BAND
BAND is the make it or break it story of an all-female Icelandic art rock band that probably will not make it and isn’t really a band.
Álfrún is an Icelandic director, writer and actress. She has had a successful acting career in film, tv and theatre for the past 20 years. She is also a play-write and theatre director. Álfrún is a member of The Post Performance Blues Band an art collective that seeks inspiration in failure. BAND is her debut film as a director. She is currently developing a new feature film called Shitballs.

Established in 2012 by producers Heather Millard & Þórður Jónsson, the company’s first project
was the award-winning psychological-thriller ‘Of Good Report’ (co-production South Africa-
Iceland) which premiered at TIFF 2013 followed by the BFI London Film Festival. Other notable
productions include recently released ‘KULDI’ by Erlingur Thoroddsen, and BAND by Álfræun Örnólfsdóttir, as well as the feature-documentary ‘YARN’ (SXSW, Netflix, Audience Award Nordisk Panorama).
Compass Films has been active in the Icelandic film community through consultancy, service
-productions and their own documentary films, animated projects and feature films. Now in
post-production with ‘When the Light Breaks’ (Feature-film, dir. Runar Runarsson), and in production with the animated children’s series ‘Ormhildur the Brave’ (Cartoon Forum 2020, CineKid 2019).
